Every programme is handed to a local partner who owns it after we leave.
" A programme that ends when we leave was never a programme. Every clean-up has a local waste route. Every plantation has a community that owns the saplings. "
There is no rubbish collection at altitude and no route out except on someone’s back. We run volunteer clean-ups in Nepal’s outdoor destinations and deal properly with what comes off the hill.
A porter carries loads at altitude for a season’s wage, then goes home to months without income. The physical risks are documented; the mental health cost is almost entirely undiscussed.
Planting a tree is easy. Keeping it alive for five years is the entire job, so nothing goes in the ground without a local partner responsible for it afterwards.
About
Our mission is to leave landscapes cleaner and the people who work in them better off.
The environmental cost of tourism in Nepal and the human cost of tourism in Nepal are the same problem, and almost nobody treats them that way. We work across both.
Local Ownership
Local partners keep the work going long after the volunteers go home.
Our Work in Numbers
Repetition
One clean-up every month for three years beats one national campaign for one week.
